WOODWORM TREATMENT
Woodworm refers to the larvae of various wood-boring beetles that feed on timber, weakening its structure over time. Common species include the Common Furniture Beetle, Deathwatch Beetle, and Wood-Boring Weevil. Signs of infestation include small, round exit holes, fine powdery dust, weak or crumbling timber, and live beetles emerging from the wood. If left untreated, woodworm can cause serious weakening of walls and repeated infestations.
At Plastercore, our treatment process begins with a thorough inspection to identify the extent of the damage and the type of beetle present. We then apply targeted chemical or gel treatments to eliminate larvae and adults, followed by structural timber repairs or replacements where needed. To prevent re-infestation, we offer long-term prevention plans using eco-friendly and certified products designed to protect your timber for years to come.

DRY ROT TREATMENT
Dry rot is a destructive fungal decay that attacks damp timber, spreading rapidly through walls and masonry if not controlled. It thrives in poorly ventilated areas and feeds on the cellulose in wood, leaving it dry, brittle, and crumbling. Typical signs include a musty smell, orange spore dust, deep cracks, and cotton wool-like fungal growth.
Our expert surveyors use specialist inspection and identification techniques to determine the extent of the infestation. Treatment involves controlling the moisture source, removing affected timber, applying fungicidal preservatives, and replacing structural sections where necessary. Using proven eradication techniques, we ensure dry rot is completely removed and prevent recurrence by addressing the underlying damp issues.
WET ROT TREATMENT
Wet rot occurs when timber remains damp due to leaks, poor ventilation, or defective gutters and roofs. While less aggressive than dry rot, it still causes significant structural damage if ignored. Signs include darkened, soft, and cracked wood, as well as a damp or musty smell.
Our process starts with a full inspection and diagnosis to locate both the decay and the moisture source. We then replace damaged timber, treat surrounding areas with preservatives, and repair any leaks or ventilation problems to prevent future issues. Our technicians not only remove wet rot but also resolve the cause, providing a lasting solution to protect your property.
